The only rink of its kind in the Annecy basin, renovated in 2023-24 after decades without work
The Patinoire Jean Régis is the only rink of its kind in the Annecy basin. It measures 58 by 28 metres and offers public sessions and themed evenings in the school holidays. Local press reports it as built at the end of the 1980s, and until recently it had never been renovated.
That changed with works from October 2023 to early 2024, costing more than 5 million euros and paid by the city of Annecy with support from the Haute-Savoie département. The rink now has a new refrigeration system. The changing rooms, club offices and storage were renovated and enlarged, and a new stand, a social room and a physical-training room were added.
The renovated rink was inaugurated in April 2024 in front of municipal officials and the heads of the city's sports clubs and associations. The works were judged necessary because the growing use of the building for ice sports had outpaced it.
