Burgau's 2016 ice hall, built over a 1975 open-air rink
Burgau's first ice stadium was a natural-ice rink built in 1971. The open artificial-ice stadium was finished and inaugurated on 15 November 1975, and on 30 December 1975 a record 1,250 spectators saw the ESV Burgau play SC Memmingen. Between 1975 and 1990 an average match drew about 600.
The ESV played its last game in the open stadium on 19 February 2016. The groundbreaking for the hall was on 27 August 2015, building work began four days later, and it was finished on 7 October 2016. The opening game, on 8 October 2016, was a 2:10 defeat against the Augsburger Panther, and regular operation began on 10 October. It is still called a stadium because the old playing surface was open-air. The hall measures 74 by 54 metres and is up to 14 metres high.
The hall is the ESV Burgau's home and is opened several times a week in winter for schools and recreational skating. In January 2024 the town decided to put a 426 kWp solar installation on its roof, and in December 2024 the district office approved a capacity of 1,000 standing spectators after demand in the 2023/24 season.
