Hvidovre Isstadion opened in 1969 and belongs to the Frihedens Idrætscenter sports complex, according to German Wikipedia. Until 2013 it was the home ground of the professional ice hockey team Copenhagen Hockey. Hvidovre Ishockey Klub, which calls itself a tradition-rich club based close to Frihedens Station, now has two ice hockey halls.
The skating hall is one part of a wider centre that houses many different clubs, among them Hvidovre Skøjteklub. The centre also has a ball hall of 1,125 square metres and a theatre hall of about 250 square metres with a stage. Besides public skating the ice hosts a curling club with four lanes, and Hockey and Fun, which the centre calls the ultimate chance to try ice hockey.
