A municipal sports centre where Sportfondsen runs the ice for public skating from October to March
Sportiom is a sports centre in Sportpark De Vliert in 's-Hertogenbosch. According to Dutch Wikipedia it is owned by the municipality and has been run by Sportfondsen since January 2019, and the complex replaced the Brabantbad swimming pool, which was demolished in 1998. The skating happens on the ice hockey rink, described there as a rink for both professional and recreational use.
The centre once had a second, polar-themed rink called IceFun Sportiom, where skaters could go through caves and slide down small slopes. That part closed in 2020. Today the recreational skating season runs from October to March, and outside it the rink can be hired for groups, events and other activities.
Beyond public skating, Sportiom sells group programmes on the ice. In the IJsspelen, teams compete for the best score, and Fun Curling runs as 45-minute sessions for groups of at least ten people. The rink also hosts children's skating parties for children up to 15.
