Philips money built the first rink here in 1970

The ice rink in Eindhoven's Genneper Parken exists thanks to a gift of one million guilders from Philips, which made an artificial rink possible. A 400 metre track and a covered hall with a 30 by 60 metre rink were built together, and the hall opened on 16 September 1970.

Eindhoven was the first Dutch artificial rink where times were registered to a hundredth of a second. A fire hit the track in September 1978, and in 2000 sponsor money allowed it to be partly covered.

Today the complex has a fully covered ice hockey hall with more than 1,700 seats and a 2,800 square metre floor, plus the semi-covered 400 metre track with 800 fixed seats. It is the home of the Eindhoven Kemphanen. The Dutch allround championships were held here in 2004 and the women's under-18 ice hockey world championship in 2020.
