The Eisstadion Hart bei Graz was opened on 15 February 2008, after the Land Steiermark says it was built in only four months for 4.3 million euros. Its ice has the international size of 30 by 60 metres, with stands for about 400 spectators, and the hall has 14 lanes for Stocksport. Governor Franz Voves, a 75-time national team player, skated a few laps on opening day.
Ice hockey clubs from across Styria come here for training and league games. At the opening the Land expected up to 350 games a year, with some 2,000 players from about 50 teams of the Nationale Hockey Liga, and the Red Devils Hart bei Graz have played in that league since 2007.
The ice is also open to hobby skaters and hobby hockey players, and on public sessions the rink plays music.
