A multipurpose hall built where the wine-festival tent stood

The Eishalle Wiesloch goes back to the early 1980s, when a handful of people from Wiesloch decided that the south of the Rhein-Neckar district needed something cool. It was planned as a multipurpose hall and as the successor to the large blue-and-white wine-festival tent that had to be put up every autumn on the football hard court west of the Gerbersruhpark.

The hall has worked in three seasons ever since: roller disco and inline hockey in summer, the Winzerfest in autumn and an ice rink through the winter. From outside it looks like an ordinary ice hall, with VIP disco rooms on the upper floor that can be rented, and it covers 3,048 square metres.

The EHC Wiesloch, with its Eislöwen, Thunders, Lightnings and Oldstars sections, has been the sporting backbone of the hall for decades, and the regular Eisdisco turns the ice into a dance floor. The family firm Akkus Eishallen GmbH runs the hall, which has been modernised step by step over the years.
