Built at Holing in 1987 when ice hockey left the fair halls; rebuilt for the 2018 World Championship.
Currently out of season This is the weekly timetable Herning Skøjteløberforening prints for public skating ("Første åbningsdag er søndag den 13. september 2026"); it announces no end date and notes that details may change; checked on 3 October 2026. Sessions are listed to 2 November 2026. The skating disco Saturdays have no dates on the site and are not listed. The club says nothing about public holidays, so nothing is listed on them. Official schedule update
Herning's indoor ice began in 1965/66, when the fair halls grew to include hall E, big enough to hold a full skating rink, and Aarhus's city archive records that Herning inaugurated the first skating hall outside the capital area in 1966. When the fair halls were needed for trade fairs, their owners decided there would be no more ice hockey there and offered Herning Ishockey Klub a loan to find its own solution. The club decided to move its ice hockey to Holing, where it still plays, and the arena there was built in 1987.
In June 2016 the arena, by then 30 years old, was judged not good enough as a training facility for the 2018 world championship and was rebuilt and renovated. The professional company Blue Fox Herning A/S was founded in 1997. Public skating is run by Herning Skøjteløberforening, which started in 1966 and has around 100 members; on selected Saturdays it holds a skating disco with the lights off and the disco balls on.
