Silkeborg's ice hall opened in 2007 in former timber halls
Silkeborg Skøjtehal opened on 1 September 2007, and it was a long-awaited arrival for Silkeborg Skøjteløberforening of 1896, Denmark's second-oldest skating club. The club's ice hockey had begun in January 1947, and it had understood from the start that the town needed an artificial rink to keep pace with its competitors. The ribbon at the opening was cut by the club's former chairman Helge Lund Christiansen, then not quite 98 years old.
The hall stands in Silkeborg Sportscenter, on land along Århusvej where H. Reimar Nielsen's timber merchants traded for many years. The H. Reimar Nielsen Group handed its warehouses, shop and office premises over to the town's sports association free of charge, and Årstiderne Arkitekter turned the raw timber halls into club and sports facilities. The ice sheet is 1,800 square metres, and Silkeborg Kunstskøjte Klub, Silkeborg Ishockey Klub and Silkeborg Curling Klub all train there.

Admission
Skating costs 30 kr. for under-15s (1 clip on a clip card) and 60 kr. for over-15s (2 clips). A 15-clip card costs 375 kr. and further clips 25 kr.; the card works for skating and skate hire, for children and adults.
Parking rules apply from Monday 00:00 to Friday 24:00: up to 15 minutes with a correctly set P-disc, with a valid Q-Park permit, or by paying through payment apps.
The halls were built together with an intermediate building and the floor levels matched, which the architect says makes the centre accessible for people with disabilities.
