A park rink between two lakes

Viborg Skøjtebane lies on the historic park area of Borgvold, between Nørresø and Søndersø, on Menveds Plads. Its 1,300 m² of ice are laid out each November and ready for use at the end of the month, with room for beginners and experienced skaters. Viborg Kommune calls it perhaps the most beautifully placed rink in Denmark and counts about 20,000 guests a year in normal opening hours.

Beside the rink are the Borgvold playground and a historic kiosk, and schools, other institutions and associations can book the rink for special events outside normal hours. At the close of the 2025/26 season the rink invited everyone to a special day on the ice, whether they sit, stand, glide, roll or lie on it.

Viborg Kommune's page says all visitors can use the rink for free; skates can be hired for children and adults, and skate buddies borrowed for the youngest in the family.

On the rink's price page, last updated 4 November 2025, sharpening your own skates cost 50 kr. per pair and hiring skates 40 kr. for both children and adults; the 2026/27 prices are not announced yet.
