The Eistreff Waldbronn opened in December 1980 after only eight months of building. It was closed in 1996 for urgent repairs to the cooling plant, and in 2000 it faced closure until a Bürgerentscheid convinced the municipal council that it had to be renovated and reopened. It reopened on 3 October 2003, after seven years, with new refrigeration and ventilation technology, closed halls and a bistro extension.
The ERC Waldbronn was founded in 1981, when the hall opened. Today the Eistreff, run by the non-profit company Eistreff Waldbronn gemeinnützige GmbH, calls itself a versatile ice sport and event centre with two ice halls, the small and the large, and says it draws around 90,000 visitors a year. In summer the large hall, 60 by 30 metres, is open to other sports.
After the new operating company took over, it installed REAL Ice water treatment before its first season, and in spring 2022 began converting the hall lighting to LED.

In the off-season months (Sep, Oct, Feb, Mar, Apr) admission is 10,- € for adults and 8,- € for young people aged 6 to 17 with proof; in the main season (Nov, Dec, Jan) it is 11,- € and 8,50- €. Children under 6 are free, and Wednesday After Work in the small hall costs 5,- €.

Standard skates in sizes 25 to 50 are hired for 4,50- €, "Exklusiv" skates in sizes 37 to 47 for 6,50- €, and skate aids for 3,- € per 60 minutes.

Online tickets give a QR code that is scanned at the entrance for one admission per day; buying at the day desk instead adds a service fee of 2€ per ticket package.
