A rink built by volunteers in a vacant hall
IJsbaan Kortrijk began as an idea of a few parents from the Kortrijk ice hockey community. Dozens of volunteers helped turn a vacant hall into a proper ice rink, and the city's tourist office lists public sessions on the new LandMarck rink from 5 December 2025, with recreational skating plus a tearoom and bar.
The ice is resurfaced by a Zamboni for every session, and at busy moments up to 400 people are on the ice at once. The non-profit is a UiTPAS partner so that people on a smaller budget can skate, and the rink also offers curling. HC Kortrijk Spurs, the only competitive ice hockey club in West Flanders, is now based at the rink, and the figure skating club FSC Kortrijk Spurs can use a new ballet room in the building.
A permanent team runs the daily operation and, for big moments, can still count on helpers from the neighbourhood.
