Kranj got its first artificial ice in 1981; today the hall hosts HK Triglav and recreational skating
Currently out of season The Ledna dvorana in Kranj's Zlato polje district, run by the Zavod za šport Kranj, has not published its winter-season skating times yet: the institute's skating page says recreational skating is offered in the winter season and that the schedule and notices will be posted on the site when the season starts. The page still lists the usual pattern (Saturday 16:30-18:00, Sunday 10:00-11:30) without dates for 2026/27, so no sessions are listed here. Checked 11 October 2026. Official schedule update
Kranj's hockey and skating club, HK Triglav, was founded in 1968, but the town had no artificial ice, so the players trained and played mostly in Ljubljana and Jesenice. In 1979/80 a promotion chance was blocked because the club had no ice of its own, and money was short too.
Kranj finally got an artificial ice surface in 1981. The town's covered, enclosed artificial rink today is the Ledna dvorana at Zlato polje, the home ice of HK Triglav, which were IHL champions in 2025/26 and whose hockey school counts more than 200 children. The club's best men's seasons were 1995/96 and 1996/97, when it reached the final stage of the national championship.
Besides recreational skating, the hall runs beginner and advanced skating courses, training, hockey matches, school sports days and events.
