Opened in 2016, replacing the Leest rink
Ice Skating Center Mechelen opened officially in September 2016, built by Bolckmans of Hoogstraten for an investment of 3.8 million euros. The 3,800 m² ice rink replaced the owners' older rink in Leest, is twice as large and was meant for recreational skaters as well as clubs.
The Hivernia figure skating academy, the Coldplay Sharks ice hockey club and the Irta short track club were named as tenants at the opening. The Mechelen Golden Sharks, the Sharks' senior side, began playing in 2016, first in the Belgian 2nd division. Sharks Mechelen runs hockey from U8 to the top league, including three women's teams.
In February 2026 the clubs of Sportwijk Mechelen began sharing the building's fitness room with Hivernia and the Sharks.
