Opened in 1987 as Bavaria's 40th ice hall
The Memminger Eissporthalle, designed by the architect Helmut Börner, opened on 4 December 1987 and counted as the 40th ice hall in Bavaria. The first ice-hockey club to use it, SC Memmingen, rose to the 2. Bundesliga and drew about 2,500 spectators a game.
The hall also staged concerts, among them Herbert Grönemeyer in 1991 and Sting and Bryan Adams in 1997, with up to 6,000 visitors. Figure-skating clubs use it as well: the DJK Memmingen has held its big Schaulaufen show every year since 1994, and the Weiss-Blau Casino 84 trains here.
The hall was renamed Alpha Cooling Arena am Hühnerberg for the 2024/25 season, and since 2026/27 the Memmingen building firm Kutter has been its naming sponsor, so it is now the KUTTER-Arena. It opens daily to the public, and the city distinguishes public sessions from evening and disco sessions.
