Free skating on the Eierplatz in the heart of Monheim
The 12th Monheimer Sternenzauber wraps Monheim Mitte and the old town in festive light from late November to mid-January. When the ice princesses and their cheerful snowman open the 425-square-metre rink on the Eierplatz, the best time of the winter begins in Monheim Mitte.
Skating is free of charge for everybody, and skates and skating aids can be hired on the spot. Beside the rink the two-storey Winter-Chalet serves hot and cold drinks, hearty snacks and sweet treats, and an outdoor counter sells mulled wine, children's punch and winter dishes.
Free skating, Eisstock games and events around the rink bring the Eierplatz to life in winter, and a Christmas market with creative huts follows on a weekend in mid-December. Slots for the rink and the chalet are booked through a form on the website.
