Bandy on a car-park roof beside Ullevaal

Bergbanen is Ullevål IL's home ground for bandy, laid out on the roof of a car park next to Ullevaal Stadion. The club bought the original Bergbanen in 1929, when Ullevaal Stadion was being built, and set up its bandy section five years later, in 1934. The old ground was demolished in 2002 for the stadium, the metro ring and the ring road, and the new Bergbanen stood ready in November 2009.

The ice is artificial, on a concrete slab with cooling pipes, and measures 108 by 68 metres with a playing surface of 100 by 60. It is nearly every season the first rink in Oslo to get ice. In winter the rink is open to the public every day, usually between 10:00 or 11:00 and 15:00 or 16:00, and rubber mats let skaters walk in and out of the clubhouse without taking their skates off.
