The Saalfelder Eiszauber is a real-ice rink of roughly 450 square metres on the Markt. The Stadtwerke Saalfeld announced its opening as "Saalfeld on Ice" in November 2019, shortly before the Christmas market began, and the town describes the rink as a returning part of the Saalfeld Weihnachtsmarkt.
It runs for six weeks, every day, with food and hot drinks from the caterer Jigger directly at the ice. Fridays bring an ice disco with DJs from the region, Wednesdays are sponsors' days, and on Sunday mornings the ice becomes a course for remote-controlled cars. Groups of two teams can also book ice stock shooting.
The Faber Wartung & Service GmbH of Saalfeld is behind the Eiszauber, and the season ends with a closing party on the Marktplatz.
