Lerchenfeld ice centre, city-owned since 1991, host of the 2017 curling Europeans
The city of St. Gallen took over the ice facility in the Lerchenfeld in 1991, and in 2005 it took over the ice sports centre together with the Lerchenfeld open-air pool. A curling hall opened beside it in 2014, and in 2017 the European Curling Championships were played in St. Gallen in the curling hall and the ice hall.
The centre has an ice hall and an outdoor ice field. Its ice disco celebrated its tenth anniversary in February 2020, with a DJ show on the ice guaranteeing entertainment.
In January 2025 a defect put the outdoor field out of service, and public skating moved into the ice hall for a time. In February 2026 the city and the HC Eisbären St. Gallen agreed that the club would use the Lerchenfeld hall for training in August 2026 under the voluntary summer-ice offer of the centre, with the club bearing the costs.
