Skating in the courtyard of Schloss Grüningen, now in its tenth season.
Currently out of season The Schloss-Eisbahn Grüningen page gives the 2026/27 season as 21 November 2026 to 11 February 2027 and prints the weekly opening hours from that date; the first public session is on 21 November 2026. Checked on 4 October 2026. Official schedule update
The Schloss-Eisbahn is the romantic rink in the courtyard of Schloss Grüningen, with a view of the mountains and a historic castle as its backdrop. Its photo galleries start with the 2017/18 season, and it is now in its tenth season. When darkness falls, fire bowls and soft lighting on the castle and the trees set the mood.
The rink is run by a Verein that looks for new ice masters among the people of Grüningen and the surrounding area. The Verein pays for the rink from admissions, catering and events, memberships, sponsors and donors, and board advertising, and its team consists of a board, ice masters and "Feuermeister" who look after the fire bowls. Young and old meet there over punch and ice stock shooting, and an ice skating course starts again in late November.
