The only artificial ice between Küsnacht and Rapperswil

The Eispark Uetikon calls itself the only artificial ice rink between Küsnacht and Rapperswil. The idea dates from 2007, when a project group was asked to find an attractive offer for the village, and the project was realised within five months. It is run by a non-profit association that operates the ice for the public through the winter months.

The rink sits on the hard court of the Rossweid school. When the municipality had the school square renovated, the ground was built to take ice, which cut the association's set-up work from about 600 to 240 hours. Today only separating foil and the cooling pipes carrying glycol have to be laid, and the ice is kept at an optimal thickness of 10 to 12 centimetres.
