For a long public skate, Centennial is the first Nashville rink we would check. For a shorter outing, compare Antioch and Bellevue against the time you actually have. If Nolensville is more convenient, put Gary Force on the list, but make sure you are choosing a public skate rather than practice ice.
That is our shortlist for recreational skating. The order favors usable public-skate time and clear session choices. It is not a rating of coaching, hockey programs, or ice quality, and a different starting point can change the best choice for your day.
1. Centennial Sportsplex for a longer skate
The strongest argument for Centennial is a session that gives you time to settle in. EveryRink’s retained September 16 schedule shows a 10:15 a.m.–12:45 p.m. public skate, followed by another from 3–5 p.m. Those are dated examples, not a promise that the same blocks run every week. See the recorded listings.
For a beginner, a longer block can leave room for breaks without spending most of the ticket getting ready to leave. For a regular skater, it can make the trip worthwhile even when arrival is delayed. The advantage disappears if you can only stay for half an hour, so compare the full session with your own available time.
Centennial also has a substantial place in local skating. Metro identifies it as the Predators’ practice facility since 1998 and now describes the ice rink as operated by a Predators affiliate. That change is a reason to use current booking information instead of relying on an old account of how the facility worked. Metro’s current rink information.

2. Ford Ice Center Antioch for a shorter outing
Antioch is worth comparing when a long session would mostly go unused. Our retained listings show an hour-long public skate on both September 16 and 17, at different start times. That difference matters more than an old article’s claim about a dependable weekday pattern. See the September 17 listing.
The useful question is whether the available hour lines up with your arrival. A cheaper ticket loses its appeal if travel and check-in eat into most of the session. Compare Antioch’s actual start time with Centennial’s longer option before deciding which offers more skating for you.
Choose it when the shorter session fits cleanly into your day. Check first the current time, booking availability, and total at checkout. Explore Antioch and its schedule.

3. Ford Ice Center Bellevue as the alternative to compare
Bellevue belongs on the shortlist, particularly when its location or session timing makes it the easier outing. We would not drive past a suitable Bellevue public skate solely because another rink ranks higher in a general guide. Use the regional map to compare the trip, then compare the sessions themselves.
Local discussion supports considering both Ford locations, but does not settle a permanent winner. In an August 2025 Nashville Reddit discussion, commenters recommended both Antioch and Bellevue; one described Bellevue as less busy. That is an individual report from an earlier date, not a crowd forecast for your visit. Other comments in the same thread give prices that should not be treated as current.
Choose it when its location and published session work better for your outing. Check first the date you intend to skate, rather than assuming a past comment about quiet ice applies. Explore Bellevue and its schedule.

4. Gary Force Acura Ice Arena for a Nolensville option
Gary Force has an NHL-size sheet in Nolensville and is home to the Nashville Warriors Youth Hockey Club. Its official site directs visitors to a calendar with public skating, stick and puck, and freestyle. Those are different uses of the ice, so a full calendar is not the same as a full selection of recreational sessions. Gary Force’s official site.
For a casual outing, filter to public skate first. If a suitable session is listed, compare it on the same terms as the other rinks: the trip, the usable time, and the total price. We are not ranking its coaching or practice programs below the others; they answer a different question.

What we can say about crowds
An online registration count is not a count of everyone physically on the ice. Walk-in handling, registration categories, and source coverage can affect that comparison. Where available, EveryRink shows camera-based estimates separately and timestamps them. Those estimates describe sampled moments, not unique visitors or ticket sales.
One day of observations is useful context, but too little to declare that a rink is always quiet on a particular weekday. Choose a session with the information available for that visit, and treat an older crowd report as context.
How we made these choices
This rewrite uses official rink information, dated EveryRink schedule records, and an attributed local discussion. Recommendations are our interpretation of that evidence. It does not claim an author visit, a survey of all reviews, or a permanent ranking of facility quality. No rink paid for its position.
For the next decision, read what a Nashville public skate really costs, then compare the current public-skate schedule. Confirm the final session and booking terms with the rink before traveling.
