Opened in 1993 as a council-owned leisure complex

Guildford Spectrum was opened on 23 February 1993 by the then Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Anthony Page. The complex is owned by Guildford Borough Council and managed in partnership by Freedom Leisure, and describes itself as the first of its kind in the UK, with its facilities all under one roof.

Its ice rink is Olympic sized and is used by thousands of people each week. It is also the home of the Guildford Flames ice hockey team.

The rink runs a themed programme of Ice Xtreme discos with a DJ, music and prize giveaways: a retro skate on Thursdays playing hits from the 80s, 90s and 00s, a request night on Sundays where skaters take over the tunes, and an earlier 2Xtreme disco on Fridays aimed at skaters under 16.
