Cantiague Park's rink, Nassau County since 1961
Cantiague Park in Hicksville opened to the public in 1961 as the second major park in Nassau County's system, after Eisenhower Park. The county owns and maintains it through its Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums.
The park's indoor skating rink has hosted skaters from recreational to professional: the New York Islanders practiced in the facility from 1979 to 1992, and Olympic gold medalist Nancy Kerrigan performed there in 2004. The county describes the rink as a magnificent facility used by recreational skaters and hockey teams.
Around the rink the park offers a 9-hole golf course with a driving range, an 18-hole miniature golf course and five tennis courts, so a skating visit sits inside a full day of county recreation.
