Eisenhower Park's two-rink ice center, rescued from bankruptcy and the Islanders' practice home since 2016
Northwell Health Ice Center opened as Twin Rinks Ice Center, a partnership between Nassau County and private investors, in Eisenhower Park, across the street from Nassau Coliseum. Its owners filed for bankruptcy in June 2015, and the NWHL's New York Riveters, who had planned to set up there, moved to Brooklyn instead.
That August, former Islanders owner Charles Wang won his bid for the bankrupt rink, planning a full-time practice space and offices for the team, and the Islanders have practiced here since 2016. The team owns and operates the building, which has two regulation NHL rinks and an outdoor recreational rink, plus a strength and conditioning gym, a rehabilitation center and an Islanders pro shop.
Long Island University's teams play here as well. The LIU women, who started in 2019–20, split their first season's home games between this rink and Islanders Iceworks in Syosset, and the LIU men have played their home games here since October 2021.
