Moncton's 1973 arena, former home of the Wildcats and host of the 2006 Memorial Cup
The Moncton Coliseum opened in 1973 with 6,554 seats for hockey and a 200-by-90-foot ice surface. It was home to the AHL's New Brunswick Hawks, the Alpines, the Moncton Golden Flames and the Moncton Hawks between 1978 and 1994, and later to the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL and the Moncton Magic basketball club.
The arena has hosted the 2006 Memorial Cup, the University Cup in 2007 and 2008, and the 2009 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. The New York Islanders have also held their pre-season hockey camp there.
The Wildcats and Magic moved to the downtown Avenir Centre, completed in 2018, for the 2018–19 season. The Coliseum is now used for local high school and minor hockey games, trade shows and youth conferences, and its exhibition space of more than 125,000 square feet is described as Atlantic Canada's largest trade show facility.
