Concord's hockey home since 1965
Douglas N. Everett Arena opened on December 7, 1965, the work of a not-for-profit corporation that Concord citizens had formed in the 1930s to build and run an indoor ice rink. The arena was dedicated in Everett's honor for his hockey achievements. The City of Concord took the building over in the 1980s, and its General Services Department owns, operates and maintains it today.
The arena seats 1,341 for hockey. Ice is in from mid-September to mid-March; the rest of the year the floor hosts flea markets, home shows and roller derby. In season this is the primary home for hockey in the city. Five high school teams skate here, including the Concord High boys and girls, Pembroke Academy, Campbell and the Bow High boys, and the arena hosts the NHIAA semifinal tournaments for both divisions. The Concord Youth Hockey Association runs its learn-to-play and travel programs here, alongside the Nor'easters women's team and an A-level men's league.
In 2019 the City Council approved funds for a study of the arena's future space needs, and staff and the arena committee produced a plan for a new lobby, meeting rooms and a deck overlooking the Merrimack River.
