Hartford's town rink, once the BOR

The Wendell A. Barwood Arena is the Town of Hartford's ice rink on Highland Avenue in White River Junction. Once known as the BOR, it was renamed in 2009 for Wendell A. Barwood, an early supporter and the principal fundraiser for the original arena, who kept a fundraising program going until his death in January 2011.

Barwood played varsity hockey at Hanover High School and later at the University of Vermont, became a registered official who refereed high school, prep school and college games, and chaired the town's Parks & Recreation Commission for six years.

The arena is used year-round for hockey games, practices, youth and adult leagues, tournaments, public skating, birthday parties, skating lessons and even flea markets. The Hartford Hurricanes, Upper Valley Speed Skating and Upper Valley Curling all use the ice, and games are streamed on LiveBarn from a building with a heated lobby.
