Sno-King's two-pad Renton arena
Sno-King Ice Arena Renton is a two-pad facility with one large sheet and one small sheet, run by the Sno-King Amateur Hockey Association. The association is a youth hockey program of long standing: Marcel Comeau served as its executive director from 1996 to 2000, and Brandon Dubinsky played minor hockey in Seattle through Sno-King before graduating from high school in 2004. In the 2017-18 season it had over 575 players on 50 teams in competitive hockey.
In May 2018 operations manager Jamie Huscroft ordered a REALice cold-water resurfacing system for the two pads, with installation expected before June. It was the first such system for Renton and for the Sno-King organization, and the second installed in Washington state. Resurfacing with tap-temperature water was projected to cut the arena's annual use by over 120,000 kWh of electricity and over 3,500 therms of natural gas.
Adults have their own place on the schedule. The Sno-King Pond Hockey League hosts recreational adult hockey in Renton, and the Sno-King Adult Hockey League runs for adult players of all skill levels.
