Washington Park Ice Arena is Jefferson City's only public ice arena, and the only one within a 95-mile radius. The city has had an ice arena for more than 60 years, a run that by 2023 had carried it through floods, tough economic times and many changes. JC Parks, the city's parks department, operates it as one of its facilities alongside the pools and golf course.
The building is a one-sheet indoor arena, open year-round, with time for the public on the ice almost every day of the year. It is a shared sheet. The Mid-Mo Tigers, a youth club hockey program for boys and girls aged 4 to 18, call it their home rink, and the Capital Classics synchronized skating teams train here on a July-to-April season. Figure skaters have freestyle blocks, while drop-in hockey, speed skating and stick-and-puck skaters share the rest of the calendar with the public sessions.
The arena has had a run of upgrades. JC Parks commissioned a feasibility study of the arena in 2021, which described an established facility with a strong user base and a wide variety of programming. A new HVAC system followed, with equipment delivered in October 2024 and installed that December, and in December 2025 JC Parks listed the replacement of the ice resurfacing machine with a 2024 Olympia.
