A year-round indoor rink in Tamworth's SnowDome, with an ice track and skating aids for small skaters
Currently out of season SnowDome's ice-skating pages describe its sessions (Open Skate, Little Skaters, SEN Skate, Skate Morning) and their prices but print no session times; dates and times are shown only in the online booking calendar. Official schedule update
SnowDome in Tamworth opened in 1994 as Europe's first indoor snow centre, with real snow all year round. Its ice rink followed in 2002 and has since become one of its most popular attractions, drawing thousands of visitors each year. In 2007 the rink was expanded to include what the centre describes as the UK's only ice skating track, alongside a children's snow fun park.
The ice rink and the snow fun park are kept at around 0 to minus 3 degrees. Younger skaters can try the Seal Pals, Penguin Pals and Polar Pals skating aids to help them find their feet on the ice.
Spectators can watch from the lodge or the balcony, or from the Lifthouse Coffee Co. with a view of the ice track.
