Home ice of the CWHL’s Burlington Barracudas
Appleby Ice Centre is the City of Burlington’s four-rink arena, on Appleby Line north of the QEW. From 2007 to 2012 it was home ice for the Burlington Barracudas, one of the founding teams of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.
The Burlington Skating Centre is based at 1201 Appleby Line and runs Skate Canada programs year round, from Learn to Skate and StarSkate to competitive, synchro, adult and power skating. Its synchronized skating teams compete as NEXXICE, whose senior team became the first North American team to win the World Championships in 2009 and won again in 2015.
The building also holds the City’s Skate Hub in Arena A, a collection of skates that residents can borrow and keep using for as long as they need.
