Replaced the Erin Coliseum in 1978
Erin's arena history starts in 1931, when local hockey fans converted the Erin Agricultural Society's fall fair building into a rink. The Shamrocks played their first game there on January 8, 1932. The building was known as the Ice Palace in hockey season, and the Lions Club spearheaded the 1967 centennial project that gave it an artificial ice plant.
In 1976 the province told the agricultural society the old building failed the National Building Code, and a donation-funded replacement followed. It had a 175-by-75-foot ice surface, seating for 750 and four dressing rooms, and it opened on the weekend of February 25-26, 1978, with two hockey games including a bantam playoff win over Caledon. The old Erin Coliseum burned down in 1994.
Today's rink is part of the Centre 2000 complex. It reopened to user groups on October 15, 2024, after renovations that included an overhaul of the HVAC system, updates to the front lobby and a complete renovation of the Shamrock Room upstairs.
