Olympic-size ice in the Albright Performance Center, home of Ice Chips and the Boston Open.
The Skating Club of Boston's Norwood home is built around the Tenley E. Albright Performance Center, a 2,500-seat, Olympic-size arena named as an honorific for and about the skating champion. The club's skating history reaches back to its first facility on Soldiers Field Road, and the arena has since hosted national and international events with U.S. Figure Skating, the International Skating Union, and US Speedskating.
The building is more than a show rink. The club is proud to be the new home of the Norwood High School Mustangs hockey team, and a cafe serves all three rinks in the facility. Its calendar includes Ice Chips, the longest-running amateur skating show in the world, and the annual Boston Open, a non-qualifying competition held every September for more than thirty years.
Public skating sessions take place in this same Olympic-size arena, so visitors skate on the ice where those events are held.
