Gloucester's O'Maley school rink, renamed in 1992 for Dorothy Talbot, who led the Save the Rink Committee
No public skating is posted for the next 7 days. New sessions show here as soon as the rink posts them.
The Dorothy Talbot Memorial Rink in Gloucester was the O'Maley Rink until the City Council renamed it in 1992 in memory of Dorothy Talbot. She served on the council from 1983 to 1987 and again in 1991, and she founded and led the Save the Rink Committee, created to ensure public access to the O'Maley School sports facility. She was proud of keeping the rink open without using taxpayer funds.
The city renovated the rink in 2011, adding a new roof and replacing the dehumidification system and the dasherboards, with a low-E ceiling to follow in spring 2012. The rink was re-dedicated on November 6, 2011, after 38 years of use.
Cape Ann Youth Hockey, Cape Ann Figure Skating Club, Gloucester High School hockey, O'Maley Middle School hockey and Rockport High School hockey are the rink's home teams.
