A Saugus rink the legislature named for the Kasabuski brothers in 1964; rebuilt after a 2020 operating deal
Kasabuski Memorial Rink stands across from the Breakheart Reservation in Saugus. In 1964 the Massachusetts legislature directed the Metropolitan District Commission to designate the rink on Forest Street as the Kasabuski Brothers Memorial Rink.
The Boston Junior Blackhawks, a Junior A team founded in 1995, played their home games here. In August 2020 the state's Department of Conservation and Recreation signed a 10-year operating agreement with Frost Realty Associations VI, ahead of the 2020-2021 hockey season, and planned about $4.5 million of capital work in the off-seasons.
That work brought a new refrigeration system before the 2021-2022 season and a replacement rink slab, dasher boards and glass before 2022-2023. Valley Rinks now lists Kasabuski among its rinks as a full service skating facility.
