Built in 2007 as the Leafs Ice Centre
Canlan Sports West Dundee opened in the fall of 2007 as the Leafs Ice Centre, a three-ice-sheet complex built to serve its main customer, the Leafs Hockey Club, a leading youth and developmental hockey program in the U.S., as well as youth skating programs and the recreational needs of a rapidly growing Kane County.
Canlan Ice Sports announced its purchase of the Leafs Ice Centre on March 7, 2019, as part of expanding its U.S. ice operations; it already owned and operated a three-sheet ice facility in Romeoville and a 175,000-square-foot turf and court sports facility in Lake Barrington.
The 106,000-square-foot building sits on 8 acres and holds three NHL-size rinks with spectator seating. Amenities include training facilities, locker rooms, a pro shop, equipment rental, offices, meeting space and a full-service restaurant. At the time of the sale Canlan planned to add its camps and academies and the Safe Hockey League adult program.
