Opened to the public on September 8, 2026
Elk Grove Ice Arena opened to the public on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after opening events on September 4 to 6, a $32.5 million project whose site had been a Staples office supply store until the store was torn down. The Nicholas Family of Companies developed the 86,261-square-foot, two-rink complex as its third Chicago-area ice arena project in a year; its construction arm, Nicholas & Associates, built it to a design by ARCON Associates, and the company's Spectate Group division runs it.
The building has eight general team locker rooms and eight dedicated locker rooms for Chicago Mission teams, plus a viewing area with floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking both rinks, study areas, a physical therapy clinic and a gym. A second-floor Hatty's Club looks out over both sheets.
All Chicago Mission boys teams from 10U through 18U moved here for the 2026-27 season, a move the club timed to the 25th anniversary of Chicago Mission Hockey. As of the opening in September 2026 the arena's home teams are Chicago Mission, PREP and Lightning Hockey Club, and the first season's public skate, learn-to-skate, freestyle and adult league programs started with the building.
