A 63,000-square-foot two-rink arena, run by its founder from 1999 until an August 2025 sale.
Glacier Ice Arena opened in 1999 with Steve Perlmutter as its managing member, a role he held from the founding. Perlmutter came to the rink as a parent: his children played youth hockey and figure skated, and he opened Glacier after seeing what those sports did for them.
The building is a 63,000-square-foot indoor arena on a 6.5-acre site in the Continental Executive Park, with two NHL-regulation rinks and stadium seating for up to 700. It is the primary venue of the Ice Dogs Hockey Association, and the Libertyville-Vernon Hills Ice Cats and Carmel Catholic High School Hockey also call it home.
Ownership changed in August 2025, when the Nicholas Family of Companies acquired the arena after 25 years under Perlmutter. The new owners now own and manage the rink, and at the time of the sale they announced large-scale renovations for the building.
