McHenry County's only indoor ice arena

The Crystal Ice House is a three-sheet arena in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and the only indoor ice arena in McHenry County. It runs as a non-profit: Fire Wagon Holding LLC, doing business as Crystal Ice House, is a subsidiary of Fire Wagon Hockey, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, and the building is open 18 hours a day, 359 days a year.

The arena is the home of the Yellowjackets hockey club, alongside the Wagon Wheel Figure Skating Club, the Crystal Lake Stingers Hockey Club, the Northwest Gold High School Figure Skating Team, the District 155 Predators and Sticks & Stones recreational hockey. Learn to Skate classes, public skating, rat hockey, stick and puck, adult leagues and curling fill the rest of the three sheets.

Today the building counts more than 500,000 visitors a year and hosts over 650 hockey and figure skating events annually, from tournaments to skating exhibitions and competitions.

Adult Rat Ice admission is $12; goalies are free; must be 18 years and older, full approved hockey equipment required. Stick & Puck admission is $12, limited to 30 skaters; under 18 need full equipment.
