Home of the St. Jude Knights

Southwest Ice Arena in Crestwood has two sheets under one roof. The main rink measures 200 by 85 feet, NHL size, and holds up to 250 skaters at a time. The studio rink beside it measures 80 by 40 feet and takes up to 60 skaters, a small second surface for lessons and group sessions.

The building's best-known tenant is the St. Jude Knights Hockey Club, a volunteer-supported youth program that has been running for more than 60 years and plays in the Central States Developmental Hockey League. Abbey Murphy first joined the Knights in Crestwood as one of just a handful of girls on the team. The Southwest Skating School and the South Suburban Adult Hockey League are also based here.

For adults who never played, the arena runs Foundry adult hockey, billed as the largest co-ed adult learn-to-play hockey program in the country and open to anyone 18 and over with no playing experience.
