Five rinks under one roof in Fraser

Big Boy Arena in Fraser, Michigan, is a 200,000-square-foot ice center with five rinks, the largest a stadium arena seating 3,400. The complex was earlier called Great Lakes Sports City, and before it was wall-to-wall ice it booked rock shows: KISS played here in 1974. On August 1, 2013, it became Fraser Hockeyland, and a Coca-Cola partnership renamed the five rinks Coca-Cola, Dasani, Sprite, Powerade and Monster Arena. The Big Boy name, tied to the Michigan-born burger chain, came a few years later.

Four of the rinks are NHL regulation size. The Big Boy Hockey Club fields house (Tier III) and travel (Tier II) teams, and Chippewa Valley, Regina, Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South high schools call the arena their home rink. The Fraser Figure Skating Club and Michigan Sports Enterprises adult hockey are based here.

The Motor City Mechanics of the former United Hockey League once played here, the Metro Jets junior and youth organization called it home from 2015 to 2021, and the Motor City Rockers of the Federal Prospects Hockey League arrived for the 2020-21 season, returned under new ownership in 2022-23 and suspended operations after 2024-25. It hosted the 2007 USA Hockey National Championships for the Midget division.
