Macomb County's only covered outdoor ice rink

Dodge Park Ice Rink opened in 2018 at the Dodge Park Farmers Market Pavilion in Sterling Heights. Each November the pavilion is converted into Macomb County's only covered outdoor ice rink. Refrigeration runs under the concrete, so the city floods it once it is cold enough and can hold ice with outside temperatures up to the mid 50s.

The city keeps its own Zamboni for the sheet. Some 21,375 skaters used the rink during the 2023-24 winter season, and the pavilion is aglow with twinkling lights all winter.

Concessions are open on weekends and school breaks, and skaters can warm up at a station with coffee or cocoa. Winter events have included Cocoa with CORE, where Sterling Heights police officers lace up their skates and take to the ice.
