Two NHL sheets, open since August 2005
Construction of Suburban Ice Macomb started on October 1, 2004, and the arena opened in August 2005 with two NHL-size rinks under a 70,000-square-foot roof. More than 30,000 skaters and hockey players have laced up here since then.
The Macomb Hockey Club, established in 2005, has used the building as its home rink from the start, running the 8 & Under program, the Lil Mavs, the Mustangs and the Mavericks. The Onyx Suburban Skating Academy and the Macomb United Figure Skating Team share the ice with the Anchor Bay Tars, Eisenhower Eagles and Romeo Bulldogs. The Suburban Skating School's Learn to Skate program is the largest in the state, and its Aspire program moves skaters on from group lessons into figure skating.
Beyond league play, the arena hosted the USA Hockey National Championships in 2017 and again in 2022. Ten locker rooms and dedicated figure and hockey instructor rooms sit off the two rinks.
