Troy's all-season skating ribbon

The Rink at Stine Community Park is an all-season facility, with ice skating in the winter and roller skating or blading the rest of the year. Its refrigerated skating ribbon, made by Serv-Ice Refrigeration of Northville, sits beside a mass timber pavilion in Jeanne M. Stine Community Park, which was established in 2022.

The project was about five years in the works, after residents said in a survey that they wanted public gathering space and more winter recreation. Public Works Director Kurt Bovensiep said the plan was always a four-season space, because Troy does not have a traditional downtown. The community celebrated the grand opening of the rink and pavilion on June 13.

The ice is not covered, so weather shapes the season, and the crew resurfaces it with a Zamboni typically every 90 to 120 minutes. Mayor Ethan Baker said the park functions like any other City park, with no gates to get in.
