Downtown Royal Oak's outdoor rink, in its fifth year

The Rink at Royal Oak is downtown Royal Oak's official outdoor skating rink, set up each winter in Centennial Commons. The 2026-27 season is its fifth in a row, and the ice is a 60 by 90 foot rink supplied by Ice Rink Events. The 2026-27 season is scheduled to run from November 20 to February 16, subject to weather.

Centennial Commons itself opened to the public in 2021 to coincide with Royal Oak's 100th anniversary, and the rink sits right across from the entrance to the Royal Oak Public Library. The season is billed as a three-month run with music, lighting, special events and offers.

Off the ice, skaters can roast marshmallows, warm up at outdoor heaters and fire pits, and find warmth in the Royal Oak Public Library Warming Center.
