The former Ice Mountain Arena, reopened in 2014
Crystal Fieldhouse is the former Ice Mountain Arena complex on Daly Farms Drive in Burton, which closed in 2012. J.C. Cokley set out to resurrect the abandoned complex, and the Cokley family invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to restore it. The building reopened as Crystal Fieldhouse Ice Arena in 2014, under new owners and management, with a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony that September. The name came from a contest owner James Cokley ran with Powers Catholic eighth graders.
The 70,000-square-foot building holds two 200-by-85-foot NHL-sized rinks on a 23-acre site. The Greater Flint Hockey Association is the youth hockey association for the building, and the University of Michigan-Flint Hockey Club, Kettering University, many high school teams and the Crystal Skating Academy figure skating club also call it home.
The building hosts recurring tournaments as well. GFHA's Burton Blizzard reached its fifth annual edition in February 2025, the Flint/Lapeer Old Timers Tournament played here in April 2025, and the Mid-Michigan High School Hockey Alumni Tournament held its twelfth annual event here in April 2023.
