Dearborn Ice Skating Center opened in 1971 as the Ford Woods Ice Arena. In 1981 it was renamed the Mike Adray Sports Arena in recognition of the contributions of Mike Adray, a Dearborn entrepreneur and philanthropist.
In 1996 a second rink opened at Ford Woods, Kilpatrick Arena, named for William Kilpatrick, the city's longtime recreation director, and the whole complex took the name Dearborn Ice Skating Center, known as the DISC.
The complex seats 1,700, with 1,500 seats in the main arena and 200 in the viewing area. It has eight locker rooms, three officials' rooms and two party rooms overlooking the ice, and a remodel added a new 4,000-square-foot lobby and main entrance. The Dearborn Figure Skating Club trains here in both individual and synchronized skating.
