A city-run arena with one NHL-size sheet, iced September through May and a summer camp once it comes out
Garden City Civic Arena is the city's municipal ice arena, built around one NHL regulation-size ice surface, and it has served Garden City skaters for decades. The ice goes in each September and stays through the end of May; the building has central air, and when the ice comes out in May the arena switches to Camp GC and other year-round programming.
Local clubs fill the skating season. The Garden City Hockey Association and the Garden City Figure Skating Club are both based here, alongside the Garden City Adult Hockey League and the Men's Over 30 Hockey League. The figure skating club stages seasonal exhibitions and an annual ice show on the sheet, and the arena's own programs run from open skate and sticks and pucks to drop-in hockey and Learn to Skate for kids and adults.
