The Canton rink where Olympic ice dancers trained

Arctic Edge opened in late 2001 in Canton with two NHL-size rinks and became a training base for Olympic ice dancers. The arena names Olympic medal teams from four Games among the skaters who called it home: Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, and Maia and Alex Shibutani. Before Sochi, Davis and White and their Canadian rivals Virtue and Moir trained together here while chasing the same gold.

That line continues. Charlie White, Tanith Belbin White and Greg Zuerlein founded the Michigan Ice Dance Academy here in 2022 to train athletes from around the world, a pairs program is led by Jim Peterson and Amanda Evora Will, and the Arctic Figure Skate Club is based at the rink.

The same ice carries a full hockey schedule: Canton Victory Hockey Association youth teams, Canton High School varsity and JV, the Plymouth-Canton-Salem girls' unified team, University of Michigan D3 club hockey, Concordia's men's and women's teams and an adult league, plus Juice Box Hockey, a low-cost first taste of the game for kids.
